We are a World Heritage Site! Since 2002, we are proud to hold that important title here in our wonderful valley – between Koblenz, the entry to the region in the north, and Bingen / Rüdesheim in the south, on both sides of the river Rhine.
Both monument conservators and local experts in environmental protection agree on the following: it is neither only the castle, nor the city wall, the powerful river always in motion, or the flora and fauna at the foot of the steep vineyards whose significance and beauty meet the criteria of the UNESCO – the importance of the topos of Rhine Romanticism was considered, too, when the title was awarded. No other region has ever been perpetuated by poets, painters and musicians in such a diverse manner.
So, it is ultimately the unique interplay of mankind and nature and the traces left behind by history which are worth preserving.
We would like to share our home region with you!
