Be charmed by a view you will never forget!
Long before Edgar Reitz put the over 200 years old timbered house into the spotlight in his famous family saga 'Heimat 3' and turned it into a film house, this magical place has been our favourite location. Equipped with a picnic blanket, a bottle of Oberwesel Riesling and some hearty snacks, the Siebenjungfrauenblick was our hideaway to leave the daily grind behind for some time, and to indulge in this fantastic view.
Today, it is not only the unforgettable view of Oberwesel and the Middle Rhine Valley, reaching from the seven Jungfrauen ('Virgins') to the Zollburg Pfalzgrafenstein on the Rhine island off Kaub which attract so many visitors. The Günderodehaus is a must-see for every fan of the film trilogy 'Heimat' ('Home').
The homey atmosphere with the original wall papers, pictures and photos of the film set gives you an authentic glimpse into the events captured on film. Local meals, homemade cakes and spectacular wines from the Middle Rhine round off your little hike in the most atmospheric way.
Your walk to the Siebenjungfrauenblick: the ascent to the walkable part of the city wall is directly located at Weinhaus Weiler. You reach the Siebenjungfrauenblick via the educational wine trail and the Rheingoldstraße at 40 minutes walking distance.
